Perhaps I can already say that I am a SWE now even (currently on my resume I say "SWE intern"). I don't mind sticking with this role for a little bit, but can anyone here offer advice about how this transition could work? Do tech companies hiring SWEs look poorly on ServiceNow devs? Maybe I could word my experience in ways that sound agnostic of ServiceNow by focusing on API development, Agile, results, etc. However, I'm worried about it pigeon-holing me into ServiceNow when I really want to be doing computer and software engineering. I don't have any other offers right now, and the computer science job market is pretty tight at the moment so I'm grateful for the job that I have lined up now. My goal, however, is to eventually become a "real" (I don't mean that pejoratively) software engineer at a company like Google, Apple, etc. My goal was never to become a ServiceNow dev, it was just the best internship offer I had last year and at a pretty good company for me to start my career at. Hello! I am a 2024 grad Computer Engineering and Computer Science student going to be joining a big company as a ServiceNow developer after I graduate in 2024.
